Energy Efficient Building Constructed in North West University.
Principal Technical Services Ltd were approached in 2007 by a large, multi national M & E Main Contractor to aid them in the tendering of a new, energy efficient energy centre based at one of the largest Universities in the country. The 13+ million pound tender was successfully negotiated after which time PTS were employed to oversee the building and construction sub-contract packages throughout the duration of the contract, through to final account stage. The construction work involved in this development ranged from the demolition of an existing car park, ground works and substructure works through to the steel portal frame construction, mezzanine floor construction and the installation of a cladded roof system. There were also a bespoke designed external cladding finish and and glazed walling system installed. The external works and landscaping were also included within our scope along with the construction and fit-out of a seperate office / amenity block. The project was carried out under the Considerate Constructors Scheme of which the site was marked within the top 5% of all sites across the UK and has so far ran to programme and budget and has exceeded the Clients expectations. The project also entailed the demolition of an existing boiler house and 40m chimney, all within feet of grade 2 listed buildings. Please view our gallery for some on-going progress photo's taken throughout the duration of the works. |

Igneous Breath Life Into Run Down Apartment Block Chapel-en-le-Frith based developer and contractor Igneous have recently completed a £350,000+ revamp and renovation of 6 apartments at Westhall Court in Buxton.
The building which is located between the picturesque pavillion gardens and the busy marketplace with its bars and restaurants was left to somewhat rack and ruin before the much needed works had started. The works to the 1 and 2 bed apartments involved a complete internal strip out, demolition of the existing stonework and steelwork, new foundations, new steel beams and columns, partial new rebuild of the external walls using locally sourced stone to match, new mansard roof constructed from natural slate, new open stairwell, new internal walls, new external windows, new block and beam floors and a complete fitout of the internals.
The internal works were a sizable contract in itself, each apartment had to be formed using block construction and accoustic stud partitioning. The fitting out of the apartments was then carried out to a high standard including fully fitted modern kitchens including top of the range base and wall units, new high end appliances, low level lighting and granite worksurfaces, new bathroom layouts including limestone walling and flooring, new power showers and in some instances sunken baths as well, complete new decorations to all areas, glazed balustrading to all floors, top of the range marble and wood flooring to kitchen and living areas along with top of the range carpet to bedroom areas. Each apartment also benefits from their own individual gas central heating system and off road parking to most apartments.
The contract, which was partly overseen by Principal Technical Services, has recently finished and was finished to budget and programme which due to some adverse weather throughout the programme was a feat in itself.
Please view our gallery for a full picture diary of the works from demolition stage through to completion. Please keep posted for the completed internal photographs soon to be added.
